Johnnie Lewis Tate's Obituary
Johnnie Lewis Tate, of Fayetteville, passed away on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at 87 years old. He was born on January 25, 1937, in Chattanooga, Tennessee, to Milton Herbert and Mary Evetts (Tharp) Tate. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Augusta, Lenora, Evelyn, & Ruth; and his brothers Ray and Dwain.
Johnnie was a gardener and enjoyed keeping a big garden. Even though he didn’t eat much of what he grew, he enjoyed the work of keeping the garden growing. If you were going to talk sports with him, you better know what you were talking about, because he was an avid sports fan. Johnnie was also a good friend and helper to his brothers and sisters, often stopping in to check on them and help them in any way that he could. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Johnnie is survived by his sister Nita Faye Wills of Fayetteville, and his adoptive son Vance King; and many nieces & nephews, and other friends and family members.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, May 16th, at 10:30 AM at Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home.
