Joseph Franklin “Joe” DeWitt
Joseph Franklin “Joe” DeWitt, age 84, of Fayetteville died Saturday October 1, 2011 in Fayetteville. He was born March 18, 1927 in Sedalia, Missouri to James Franklin and Ethel Shaw DeWitt. He was a member of Oak Manor Christian Church in Fayetteville. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran serving in World War II. He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret DeWitt; one son, Doug Elderton and one sister, Roberta DeWan.
He is survived by one daughter, Joann Sitton and her husband Jim of Roanoke, VA; three sons, Mike DeWitt and his wife Sue of Fayetteville; Larry DeWitt and his wife Marjorie of Fayetteville; Sam DeWitt and his wife Gail of Farmington; two sisters, Margaret Weddington of St. Charles, MO; Beulah Bishop of Bunston, MO; two brothers, James DeWitt of Bentonville; Bob DeWitt of Bentonville; eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren.
Visitation will be 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM Monday October 3, 2011 at Moore’s Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:00 AM Tuesday at Moore’s Chapel with burial at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
