Jospeh William Walsh's Obituary
Joseph William Walsh, 89, of Elberton, Georgia, and formerly of Greenville, Mississippi, died Friday, August 18, 2006.
He was born June 28, 1917, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Joseph Alphons Walsh and Katherine Hartnett Walsh of New Orleans, Louisiana.
Joseph was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army and served in World War II, in Paris, France, where he met and married Florence Sabo, a member of WAC. After his tour of duty, he was a federal agent with the IRS in Greenville, Mississippi, until he retired in 1979. He was a member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Greenville, Mississippi. He excelled as a wonderfully loving husband, father, grandfather and father-in-love and will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife of fifty-eight years, Florence Sabo Walsh, a granddaughter, Victoria Elizabeth Louise Pearson, a brother, Thomas Walsh and sisters, Lillian Bridget Walsh, Mary Provenzano, Alice McNutt, Rita Currington, and beloved brother-in-law, George Sabo.
He is survived by his children; Thomas Walsh, missionary of Venezuela, George (and Cindy Pittman) Walsh of Conway, Arkansas, and their children, Nathan, Ethan, Joseph and Micah; Dr. Bridget Walsh of Elberton, Georgia, and children lucas and Liliia Walsh and Jackie, Priscilla, and Zeder Peter; Mary (and Guy) Pearson, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and children, Alexandra and Matthew; Elizabeth Revard of Macon, Georgia, and children, Lauren, Andrew, Peter and Stella; brothers; Francis (and Violet) Walsh, and Gerald Walsh; sister, Geraldine (and Terry) Terranova, and sister-in-law, Betty Sabo.
A memorial service to celebrate a life well lived will be held at the home of Guy and Mary Pearson at 2:00 PM, Sunday, August 20, 2006. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the St. Jude Children's Hospital or to the Charity of your choice.
