Katherine Stover Sparks' Obituary
Katherine "Kay" Stover Sparks was born September 24, 1937 in Long Beach, CA to Edward and Velma Stover. She graduated from Holland Hall in Tulsa, OK. She attended Colorado College in Colorado Springs, CO. She graduated from the University of Oklahoma in Norman, OK. She was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority. She married Neil R. Sparks, Jr. on June 25, 1960 and accompanied him to many duty assignments during his service in the US Navy. She passed away peacefully with her family at her side on the morning of October 10, 2005.
She was blessed with a warm and loving family and many, many loving, loyal, and wonderful friends. She was known for her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor. "Some people say funny things and some people say things funny." That was Kay.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Lucille "Lucy" Stover Foster, and her parents Ed and Velma Stover. She is survived by her husband, Neil, of Fayetteville AR; her son and daughter-in-law Andrew and Sherry Sparks of Fayetteville AR, and her daughter and son-in-law Meredith and Mike Parker of Colfax, NC and her nieces and nephew: Margo Stewart of Stillwater, OK, Emily Hein of Scottsdale, AZ, Amy Mangrum of Tulsa, OK and Matthew Hein of Tulsa, OK.
She was a voracious reader and avid supporter of the Fayetteville Public Library. She loved playing Mah Jongg with her friends. She was an active member of the Fayetteville Newcomer's Club, The Rural Builders Association, Several Book Groups, and Q.U.I.L.T. Guild of Northwest Arkansas.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 12, 2005 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday in the Chapel of Nelson-Berna Funeral Home with entombment to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens in Fayetteville, AR.
