Kathryn Evans' Obituary
Kathryn Evans, 86, of Springdale, Arkansas, passed away on March 15, 2022.
Kathryn (Kathy to her family and friends) was born on December 26, 1935, in Media, PA, to Frank and Sara Widdoes.
She attended West Chester State Teachers College, West Chester Pennsylvania, obtaining a degree in elementary education. She taught Second Grade in Media Pennsylvania. Kathy married David Evans, and together they raised three children, living in Richmond, Virginia, Hayward, California, Rogers, Arkansas, and Trophy Club, Texas. After David's retirement, they moved to Springdale, Arkansas to be closer to family and friends.
Kathy loved travel, great meals, games, cooking, and above all, spending time with her family. She was an active member of PEO, serving in the Rogers, AR Chapter until her death. Kathy was incredibly proud of her children and the lives they had made for themselves. She loved playing chauffeur to her grandchildren and was devastated to lose that job when the Covid pandemic hit.
On any given Friday, you could find her dining with her husband at her son’s restaurant, enjoying her meal and her son’s success in equal measure. Kathy loved a good story, especially a funny one, and would frequently laugh so hard she had to stop to catch her breath and dry her eyes. She was kind, thoughtful, and selfless to a fault.
She is survived by her husband of 55, years, David Evans; daughter Allyson Mertins, her husband William, and their children Cate, Ella, Will, Hattie, and Besch; son Brian Evans; and son Chris Evans, and his wife Cortney Evans; and her sister Lois Rosa. Kathy is preceded in death by her parents and by her brother, John Widdoes.
A brief celebration of her life will be held from 4-6 p.m. Monday, March 21, at Nelson Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, Kathy asked that donations be made to, P.E.O. Educational Fund, Treasurer’s Department, 3700 Grand Avenue, Des Moines, IA, 50312.
