Kathryn Ann Scherer's Obituary
In the grand tapestry of life, some threads are so vibrant, so full of energy, they seem to dance off the weave, touching and coloring those around them in the most unexpected ways. Kathryn Ann Scherer was one such thread, a kaleidoscope of colors, life, and laughter, woven intricately through the lives of those she touched. On March 6th, Kathryn gracefully exited this world surrounded by family and it is with heavy hearts but light spirits, we bid farewell to a woman who was as unique as the collection of hobbies and passions she pursued with the fervor of a soul unbound.
Those waiting on the other side to welcome her home include her parents Thomas Scherer and Billie Rose Scherer and her sister Julie Scherer along with countless cats, several dogs, many chickens, and 3 goats. Many remain to tell her wonderful stories including her two daughters Blaze Scherer (Nathan) of Farmington and Lewel McCutcheon (Reid) of Springdale and their daughter Stella. Those that know her oldest tales include her siblings Tom Scherer (Mary) of Tulsa, OK, Suzanne Scherer of Springdale, AR and Rose Campbell of Olathe, KS.
Kathryn’s story cannot be told without mentioning her best friend, Moonie the cat. A bond so strong, it is rumored Moonie was the favorite child and probably knows her best secrets, but he's not talking. Kathryn's love for Moonie was equal to her affection for every big beautiful tree she came across. She firmly believed that "the presence of God was in all living things," a testament to her unwavering faith in nature and its miracles. The sheer amount of turtles she stopped to help cross the road has probably saved them from extinction.
Her care for others extended beyond the flora to include the fauna of the human variety, perhaps to the chagrin of some of those who found themselves at the receiving end of her unsolicited health advice. Yet, this was Kathryn – always concerned, always caring, even when you wished she wouldn't. If you were in her circle then you surely had received some suggestions to better take care of yourself and there is no doubt she is in heaven now explaining to everyone that it was probably their allergy to dairy products that landed them there.
As a Realtor and a business owner, Kathryn approached her profession with the same tenacity she did her personal passions. Her business wasn't just a means to an end but a canvas where she painted her dreams, helped no doubt by her genuine talent as an artist. Her paintings, stained glass, and photographs were not just art; they were windows into the soul of the world as she saw it – vibrant, alive, and utterly beautiful. Some might collect jewels, and she did as well, but her true love was collecting acres of land and preserving them and the wildlife that lived there.
Kathryn's role as a single mother to her two loving daughters, Blaze and Lewel, was without doubt her most cherished. She raised them with the conviction of her strong-willed personality, ingraining in them her values of love, respect for all living things, and, of course, a ready opinion on everything under the sun. She was an excellent grandmother to little Stella and would play with her for hours giving animated voices to all her stuffed animals.
Her affinity for birds, especially hummingbirds, cardinals and hawks, was another chapter in her book of life. The story of her rehabilitating a hawk found on the highway was legendary, a testament to her undying spirit of care and rehabilitation, not just for birds but for everyone she met.
Kathryn fancied herself a jack of all trades – equally at home dressed to perfection at a gala as she was tending to her animals on the farm. Her days were a whirlwind of activity, a blur of color and life that never seemed to slow down, much like the woman herself.
And so, as we say goodbye to Kathryn Ann Scherer, we remember not just the strong-willed woman with a ready opinion, but the loving mother and grandmother, the passionate artist, and the unwavering friend to all living things. Her legacy is not just in the lives she touched but in the laughter, the color, and the vibrancy she leaves behind. Heaven, brace yourself: you're about to receive a whirlwind. And to Moonie, don't worry – she's probably already found a way to send you premium organic catnip from the great beyond.
