Kay Corso's Obituary
Kay Corso, age 78, of Fayetteville passed away March 8, 2022. She was born August 26, 1943 in Little Rock AR, the first child of Herman and Rosemary (Bertman) Sick. She was a member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville. She graduated from St. Mary’s College in Leavenworth Kansas. Kay married the love of her life, Michael Corso, in 1968. She and Mike both taught school in Kansas City and Fort Smith before moving to Fayetteville. She attended the University of Arkansas and obtained her master's degree in Counseling. She taught reading and art in the Fayetteville Public Schools before her retirement.
Kay is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Mike Corso; sister, Roberta Sick; brother, Jim Sick (Barb); brother-in-law, Bob Brasher all of Little Rock; sisters-in-law, Polly Wand and Linda Corso of Litchfield, Illinois; brother-in-law, Andy Corso, of Ft. Worth, Texas; and many nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews on both sides of the family. A loving group of friends and extended family, both locally and around the internet, will also miss her love. Kay is preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jeanie Brasher; her brothers-in-law - Tony Corso and John Wan;, sister-in-law Judy Corso and a great niece, Luci Sick.
Kay was a gifted teacher and artist, utilizing different art mediums (painting, jewelry, stained glass, watercolors, and pen and ink) at various times in her life. Her latest interest was collecting and restoring antique Holy cards, small pieces of religious art, usually depicting Catholic theological concepts, saints, scenes from the bible, or the Holy Family. They were often printed and distributed to friends and family on religious occasions. She later put the restored images in a blog on the internet in high resolution so that others who shared her passion could print holy cards for personal use. Kay also loved animals. Dinner time always consisted of watching bears, penguins, dogs and other live streams on explore.org.
A Rosary service will be held at 11:30 am on Saturday, March 19, 2022 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville. The Funeral Mass will follow at 12:00 PM and burial will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
