I was lucky enough to have Ken as a stepfather from ages of 11-13. He was and still is one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. He taught me that there are really good men that exist in the world. I used to go hang out with him at KMAG country radio station after I got out of school each day while attending Ramsey Junior High School in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I thought it was SO cool to have a stepdad who worked as a DJ at the radio station! We bonded with our love of music. I remember him taking me to a football game where his brother was the band director and his brother let me play my clarinet with his band in the stands. He taught me to play the drums and gave me his old drum sticks (which I kept all these years). I went on to audition to play the drums in an honor band the next year. He was just the sweetest man and I’m so sad I didn’t get to spend more time catching up with him. I’ve always felt like he and I were kindred spirits. Sadly, I was only recently able to reconnect with him on Facebook and we had only exchanged a few messages and pet pics before he passed away. But I’m so thankful I was able to reconnect with him, albeit briefly. I will always miss him and I regret not getting to meet his sweet Lucy. Thank you, Ken, for always making me feel loved and accepted! ❤️
