Kenith Lee Harris' Obituary
Mr. Kenith Lee Harris, 61, of Springdale, AR, went to be with the Lord, Sunday, December 12, 2004, at his home after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born February 6, 1943, in Santa Monica, California, to Wesley Hendrix and Effie Lee (Bowen) Harris. He was retired after 31 years as resident engineer for the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and along with his wife owned Mine Creek Jewelry for thirty years.
He graduated from Prescott High School in 1961 and was a 1965 civil engineering graduate of the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. After graduation he married Patsy McGlone, March 3, 1966. After serving his country in the U.S. Navy for two years he took a field engineer job with the AHTD in Hope, Arkansas. He then became Resident Engineer in Nashville, Arkansas, where he and Patsy raised their children. He was a Sunday school teacher and deacon at the First Baptist Church and sang in the choir. He retired from the Highway Department in March of 2000 and relocated to Springdale in April 2003 to be with his family. Kenith enjoyed traveling, gardening, and sports but most of all he enjoyed being with his family.
He is survived by his loving wife of thirty nine years, Patsy Ruth McGlone Harris, son, David Harris and wife Shelly and their three girls Rachael, Callie, and Olivia of Springdale, Arkansas; daughter, DeAnna Hodges and husband Tron and their three children Jacob, Hannah, and Matthew of Springdale, Arkansas; son, Daniel Harris and wife Christy and their three children, Sarah, Caleb, and Rebecca of Monticello, Arkansas. He is also survived by a brother, Donald Dee Harris of Prescott, Arkansas; a sister Mary Ann Matherly of Bodcaw, Arkansas, two nephews, Jonathan and Sammy and a niece, Holly Harris.
Local visitation will be held at the family home at 114 Woodcliff Road in Springdale from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 14, 2004 with a memorial service beginning at 4:00 PM.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 15, 2004 at 2:00 PM in the First Baptist Church in Nashville, Arkansas, with a visitation being held from Noon until service time. Committal services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, December 16, 2004 at Bluff Cemetery in Springdale, AR. Pallbearers will be Charles Henley, Monroe Cloud, Edwin Tollett, Ed McCrary, Jerry Jacobs, and Randy White.
