Kenneth H. Shields' Obituary
Kenneth H. Shields, 45, loving husband, father, son, brother, dear friend and esteemed colleague to many, died suddenly, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, Sunday, October 21, 2007.
Kenny was born on September 17, 1962 in Detroit Michigan and attended Dearborn High School where he met his lifelong love and soul mate, Mary Beth. He then attended the University of Michigan and graduated in 1984. He and Mary Beth were wed on April 25, 1986 at Sacred Heart Church, Dearborn Michigan. They have 3 loving sons: Tripp, Patrick, and Jack. Ken's highly successful 23 year career as an executive with Procter & Gamble took them from Michigan to Chicago, Cincinnati, Minneapolis, and Fayetteville, Arkansas where he most recently led a multi billion dollar Household Needs business for P&G with Wal-Mart. Kenny loved his work with P&G and Wal-Mart and thrived on the opportunity to build the joint businesses, organizations, and development of the younger executive teams.
Kenny was passionate and lived fully in all aspects of life. He was too young to be taken from us, but we are comforted in knowing he lived his life to the fullest. He loved coaching his sons in sports and in life, fishing, golf, traveling, and his enumerable friends. Ken was very involved in the community with his recent passion of being President of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Arkansas. Everyone that Ken came in contact with was soon a lifelong friend.
Ken is preceded in death by his father, Kenneth H. Shields, Senior.
Ken is survived by his wife, Mary Beth (Alban) Shields, three sons, Tripp, Patrick, and Jack, mother, Marilyn Campbell Shields, and brothers and sisters, Sue Shields and Cindy and husband Ted Stacy, Joanne and Tony Amenta, Debbie and Steve Reiff, Bob and Kathey Alban, John and Dottie Alban, and Robin and Dane Lupo.
A gathering of friends will be held at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home, 4520 N. Crossover Road, Fayetteville, AR, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24th. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 1722 Starr Road, Fayetteville, AR, on Thursday, October 25th at 3:00 p.m.
