Obituary
King Foo Mar, 81, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully at his home, Sunday, March 10, 2019.
King was born in Canton, China on November 11, 1937, and immigrated to the United States in 1947 at the age of 10. He grew up in Salina, Kansas, and graduated from Salina High in 1957. King proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1962 to 1966. In 1971, King met and married his loving wife Jenny Chu in Hong Kong. After living in Kansas for a few more years, they later moved to Northwest Arkansas in 1975 making Bentonville their home for over 40 years.
King spent his early adulthood managing and owning restaurants in Kansas and Arkansas which included a pizza joint, Chinese restaurants, and even an egg roll stand. He later spent 17 years at the Walmart Home Office working in the Informations Systems Division (ISD).
He enjoyed sports, discussing politics, spending time at home with his family, and working out at the Walton Life Fitness Center.
King is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jenny Mar; three children, Careyee Mar of Johnson, AR, Cheryee Richardson (Kevin) of San Anselmo, CA, Lance Mar (Emily) of Charlotte, NC; and three grandchildren, Ava Richardson, Aly Richardson, and Eleanor King Mar. He was preceded in death by his father, Henry Mar; mother, Tai Yulk Yee; sister, Wai Wan Wong, and brothers, Key Mar and Soon Mar.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, March 19, 2019, at 10 AM followed by the funeral service at 11 AM at First Baptist Church in Bentonville, Arkansas. Pastor Phillip Smith and Bro. Benny Thompson will be officiating. Burial ceremony will follow at the Bentonville Cemetery.
