Laura Mae Harbour Sprouse's Obituary
Biography
Laura Mae Harbour Sprouse, loving mother and grandmother, was called home to be with the Lord on May 9, 2011. Born May 8, 1918, to James Allen Harbour and Fannie Lauriva Vaughan Harbour in Bearden, Arkansas, she was a precious treasure on the earth for 93 years. Her beloved husband of 68 years, William Frederick Sprouse, was called home to the Lord on February 29, 2004.
She is survived by one son, Mark Sprouse and his wife Debbie of Springdale, three daughters, Phyllis Dematteis and her husband Johnny of Corona, California, Carole Smith and her husband Steve of Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and Fredda Mifflin and her husband Jerry of Springdale, and sister EvaLee Jones of Murietta, California. She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Laura Sprouse trusted the Lord as her Savior at the age of 22. She was an active member of Cross Church in Springdale until ill health prevented her attendance in recent years. She is fondly remembered for her devoted service in the nursery department, where she rocked and sang many, many babies to sleep while their parents attended the worship services. Her faith in Jesus was a testimony to her children and grandchildren throughout her life, and gives her family joy in their sorrow at her “going home.”
She loved to crochet and quilt, making heirloom memories for generations of family members.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Friday, May 13, 2011, at Cross Church in Springdale with Pastor Charlie Foster officiating. Interment will follow at Friendship Cemetery. Visitation will precede the service at the church, beginning at 1:00 p.m.
