Lela Margaret Reid's Obituary
Mrs. Lela Margaret Reid, 102, of Springdale, AR passed away Friday, September 9, 2005, in Fayetteville. She was born May 9, 1903, at Bad Axe, Huron County, Michigan to John Wesley Wessels and Margaret C. Harlacher Wessels of Ubley, Michigan. Formerly of the Detroit area, she moved to Springdale, Arkansas in 1975 to live with her son and daughter-in-law, after working 25 as a Library Technical Clerk at the Hazel Park, Michigan Public and High School libraries. She was a member of the Church of Christ-Scientist.
She was preceded in death by her six year old son, Walter Edward, Jr.; three year old daughter, Faye Bernice; her husband of 25 years, Walter Edward Reid, Sr. on January 28, 1948; and son Max Fredrick Reid on January 14, 1997.
Survivors are caregiver/daughter-in-law, Jessie Joy Reid of Springdale with whom she has lived for 28 years; her daughter, Marion Margarette Washburn of Fayetteville; grandchildren Joene Maxine Ray and husband Russ; Katherine Lee Boyer all of Springdale; Kenneth Edward Reid and wife, Eileen of Chandler, Texas; Mark Calvert Washburn and wife, Laura of W. Bloomfield, Michigan; Jeffrey Lee Washburn and wife, Gail of Yokousa, Japan; and Christopher Paul Washburn of Fayetteville, AR, and ten great- grandchildren.
The memorial service will be 2:00 P.M., Monday, September 12, at Nelson-Berna Crematory and Funeral Home, 4520 Crossover, Fayetteville, AR with Mr. Charles Sebring officiating. A family graveside service will be at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in Detroit, MI at a later date.
