Leonard H. Davis' Obituary
Leonard H. Davis, 82, of the Whitehouse Community, went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Saturday, April 21st. He was born June 16, 1929, in Thompson, Arkansas, to parents George Davis and Ella (Ritcherson) Davis. He proudly served in the United States Army. His most notable accomplishments include being a firefighter for the Fayetteville Fire Department (4 years), Elkins Fire Department (24 years), and the Whitehouse Fire Department (25 years), for a total of 53 years of dedicated service. Additionally, he served as a member on numerous boards including the Elkins School Board, Fayetteville Planning Commission, Whitehouse Cemetery Association, and the Elkins Fire Department Pension Board. He was also a longtime member of Sulphur City Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, a brother Tommy Davis, and one granddaughter, Hollie Lazenby. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Bobbie L. Lewis; two daughters, Zondra Davis and long-time partner Franklin “Eugene” Sperling of Fayetteville, AR, Tracy Rinker and husband Martin of Elkins, AR; ten grandchildren, Ashlee (Lazenby) Kimbel, Maverin (Rinker) Downum, Meagan Rinker, Madison Rinker, Blaine (Goodnight) Reynolds, Amber Goodnight, Ben Goodnight, Matthew Goodnight, Shiree Davis, and Dale Sperling; a niece, Kathy Smith, as well as five great grandchildren.
Please join us in celebrating his life at the Whitehouse Community Building at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 25, 2012, with burial to follow at Whitehouse Cemetery. There will be a visitation for Leonard on Tuesday, April 24, from 6 to 8 pm at Moore’s Chapel Funeral Home, Fayetteville, AR.
