Leslie Kay Oberlender's Obituary
Leslie Kay Oberlender, 64, of Rogers, Arkansas, passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2024. Leslie was born on September 21, 1959, in Phoenix, Arizona and was raised by her parents Leatrice “Letty” and Peter Hofstra along with her father Richard Hargus. Leslie was an adventurous and fun-loving individual who was known for her kindness and caring nature.
Leslie is survived by her beloved husband, Bryan Oberlender of Rogers, Arkansas and her daughter Laura Boxnick and husband Shane of Rogers, Arkansas; her daughter Chelsea Chappell and husband Kerry of Smithville, Missouri; her brother Chuck Hargus and wife Jacque of Avoca, Arkansas; her brother Rick Hargus and JoAnn Sakato of Phoenix, Arizona; her brother Patrick Hargus and wife Karen of Rogers, Arkansas; her sister Susan Wilson and husband Steve of Pea Ridge, Arkansas and her brother Mark Hofstra and wife Becky of Rogers, Arkansas. She also has two granddaughters, Annsley and Autumn Chappell of Smithville, Missouri who affectionally call her “Gigi”. Leslie also had numerous nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents, Letty and Peter Hofstra and Richard Hargus.
She proudly served in the United States Navy from 1979 to 1984. Leslie had a passion for serving others, which led her to a career in the medical field. During her military service, Leslie worked as a Dental Tech and later pursued her passion by obtaining her Nursing Degree in 1997 from Adirondack Community College in Queensbury, New York. Leslie served her community as a registered nurse for over 20 years, making a positive impact on the lives of countless patients.
In her free time, Leslie enjoyed various outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, traveling and 4-wheeling. These hobbies allowed her to connect with nature and find joy in the simple pleasures of life. She truly enjoyed the outdoors and cherished her time with family and friends.
Leslie also was very charitable with her free time and was always eager to volunteer to help others.
Visitation will be 2:00 pm – 4:00 pm Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Rogers, Arkansas. Funeral services for Leslie will be held at 11:30 am Monday Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Rogers.
