Linda Lou Newton's Obituary
Linda Lou Newton, age 84, passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026.
Linda was born on June 4, 1941, in North Little Rock, Arkansas, to Willie and Bill Blasingame, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her older sister, Patsy Green, and her younger brother, Bill “Billy” Blasingame.
A proud graduate of North Little Rock High School, Class of 1959, Linda went on to earn her degree in Education from Ouachita Baptist University. She devoted many years to teaching at Bayou Meto Elementary School in Jacksonville, Arkansas.
After retiring from her teaching career, Linda embraced a lifelong passion for dance. She found great joy in Bop, Swing, Ballroom, and Country dancing and was an active member of several dance clubs in the Little Rock area, where she formed many lasting friendships.
Linda also had a love for travel, both across the United States and abroad. One of her greatest adventures was spending six months in New Zealand, where she worked on a sheep farm—an experience she cherished and often shared with others.
She was active in her community through her love of animals, training her dog, Zeke, as a certified visitation dog with ABLEPaws, bringing comfort and joy to many. Linda was an avid thrifter and enjoyed collecting music CDs, cookbooks, jewelry craft books, and exercise books. She enjoyed watching the Razorbacks, going to the Naturals baseball games, and fireworks with family on the 4th of July. In her later years, she made her home at Butterfield Trail Village in Fayetteville.
Linda is survived by her son, David Newton of Cabot, Arkansas; her granddaughter, Morgan Yandell (Kody); and her great-grandson, Cannon Yandell. She is also survived by extended family members and dear friends who will miss her deeply.
A memorial service to celebrate Linda’s life will be held at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Thursday, April 16, at 3:00 p.m.
