Linda Sue Phillips' Obituary
Linda Sue Phillips, 80 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Saturday, July 27, 2024 in Fayetteville. She was born May 20, 1944 in Fayetteville, AR to Frank and Freida (Thompson) Skelton.
A lifelong resident of Washington County, at 18 Sue was hired in the Washington County Assessor office. In 1979, she was elected Assessor and served in that role until 2002 when she retired after 40 years of service. She was proud to have served as the President of the Arkansas County Assessor’s Association during her tenure. She was a member of Center Street Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband Homer Gene Phillips.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna Cosby and husband Steve of Springdale, AR, grandson Grant Cosby and wife Olivia of Springdale with great granddaughter, Minnie Cosby, and granddaughter, Morgan Cosby and her fiancé Sheldon Gaesswitz of Farmington. She is also survived by her double-cousin Barbara King of Elkins along with cousins Randall Caselman of Farmington and Carol Dorman of Little Rock.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 31st from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, August 1st at Center Street Church of Christ in Fayetteville with Randall and Keith Caselman officiating. Burial will follow at Whitehouse Cemetery in the Arnett community.
