Lloyd Henry Mattice's Obituary
Lloyd Henry Mattice M.D., 94, of Fayetteville AR passed away Friday, November 11, 2005 in Fayetteville, AR. He was born September 19, 1911 in Paullina, IA, to Robert Orson and Lillie Rosada (Johnson) Mattice. After attending Morningside College he received his medical degree from the University of Iowa and went into general practice. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army medical corps serving as the medical officer adjutant of the 90th station hospital in the Southwest Pacific during World War II. After the war he continued his medical practice, specializing in eye, ear, nose and throat in Sheldon, IA, and Sioux Falls, SD. He enjoyed music, theater and reading.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Ardeth Lodema Mattice; two sons, Wayne L. Mattice of Akron, OH and John D. Mattice of Fayetteville, AR; four sisters, Gladys Chalstrom of Iowa City, IA, Rosalie Lewis of Thurmond, NC, Leona Wittrock of Primghar, IA, and Nellie Ann Kammerer of Primghar, IA; one grandchild; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother Roger Mattice of Emmetsburg, IA, and a sister Pearl Virgil of Sutherland, IA.
Burial will be private at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society or the Salvation Army.
