Lois Estelle Giles' Obituary
Lois Estelle Giles, age 104, of Fayetteville, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, March 7, 2020. She was born November 23, 1915 in Chicago, Illinois to Dr. Albert William Giles and Alfreda May Grout Giles. She was preceded in death by both parents, brothers LeRoy and Lawrence Giles, and sister Jeannette Irby. Survivors include many nieces and nephews.
Ms. Giles graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1933, following up with 2 years of college at the University of Arkansas. She then attended St. Louis City Hospital School of Nursing, completing her Registered Nursing Degree in 1949.
She began her nursing career with the Veterans Administration Medical Center and then became employed by doctors Vincent and Ruth Lesh for 22 years and retiring in 1980.
She taught private piano lessons to numerous individuals throughout Northwest Arkansas. Each student was very important to her, and many remained friends with her even after she retired from teaching in 2008.
She was a longtime member of Central United Methodist Church and Circle 1 as well as a former member of the Northwest Arkansas Doll Club.
Lois was a devoted cat lover.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Humane Society of the Ozarks at P.O. Box 11174, Fayetteville, Arkansas, 72703.
Visitation will be held 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. Saturday March 14, 2020 at Moore’s Chapel, with graveside service beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
