Louise Pollard Kappen's Obituary
Louise Pollard Kappen, 90 of Springdale, AR passed away, Thursday, November 18, 2004 in her home. She was born May 12, 1914 in Savannah, Tennessee the daughter of George C. and Martha (Hitchcock) Pollard.
Mrs. Kappen graduated from the Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1937 and was affiliated with the University of Tennessee Public Health Nursing for a short time. In 1940, Mrs. Kappen joined the U.S. Army Nurse Corps and served in the South Pacific for 23 months during World War II. She was employed by the State of California Public Health Department for five years, at City Hospital in Fayetteville for five years, and retired after ten years of service with Campbell Soup Company in Fayetteville were she was employed as the industrial nurse.
She was preceded in death by her husband Herbert H. Kappen who preceded her in 1999, her daughter, Mary Alice Edmisten who passed in 1991, and her brother, Dr. E.V. Pollard who passed last year.
She is survived by two grandchildren, Rosalynn K. Edmisten of Springdale, AR, Karalea J. Smith of Kansas City, Missouri, and a son-in-law Jack Edmisten of Kansas City, Missouri.
A memorial service will be held 10:30 AM Saturday November 20, 2004 at First Presbyterian Church in Springdale, AR with Reverend Stewart Smith.
Burial will be in the Leavenworth National Cemetery in Leavenworth, Kansas.
