Deepest condolences to all of Lou's family members. Lou will continue to be remembered for her grace, kindness, and support by all her many colleagues. Barbara & Jack Semonche
I am so sorry to hear of Lou's death. She was a wonderful role model and her ability to make the newest person feel absolutely at home was legendary. I will always feel lucky that she was the first person to welcome me to the SLA news Division.
Dear Lou was a much loved and highly respected colleague and mentor to news librarians across North America. Our personal friendship spanned four decades and I always anticipated our hour long phone calls in Feb....she maintained her interest in those around her and had total recall of names and events. My condolences to her family, Shirley Mooney Aabjerg, Victoria BC.
A New Year's toast to Lou who started the research library at the Advocate that survives today and to Lou, counselor to reporters and editors. Love, Ed
We were saddened by the news that Lou had passed away. There may be only one supper club member left from the old Ingleside Methodist Church Supper Club. That would be my dad, Verdell Blakly. I worked with Lou at The Advocate, and even the old building where we worked together is gone. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family. The Blaklys; Verdell, Jimmy, Janet and Patti
Sending my condolences to Lou's sons and families. I have fond memories of life on Holloway in Baton Rouge, especially with my dear friend Nancy Dunn who died too young just a couple of years ago....those were very good days.
So sorry to read about Lou in the Advocate today. We moved to Holloway in 1955 and Lou and Straw were our neighbors and Dean and Dale were friends of my children, Sally and Steve. It was such a pleasure knowing them and I have often wondered how Lou and Straw were, and where they were. I used their back porch for Cub Scout meetings and considered them wonderful friends. Lou's dad, Mr. Honeycutt was my Old World History teacher at Northeast in Monroe, so we had two connections. So sorry to learn they are both gone, but I have wonderful memories of both of them, and my thoughts and prayers are with Dale and Dean and their families.
Just wanted to let y'all know how sorry I am to hear about your mom. I hope your family is well and wish you the best in the new year. Your family was a big part of my younger years and I have very fond memories of our adventures. Y'all are in my prayers.
