I have so many memories of Luther he was a dear friend. He tried teaching me to drive a standard it was a 67 Chevelle and after that driving experience I think he had to put a clutch in the car. He would come and get me when I lived on Country Club Hill in his old Mopar after he got off work from the Dlux after midnight, I would hear him coming up the hill and we would go out driving for hours, I made him a bet one time that he couldn't come off College Ave by the old courthouse and make it all the way to 15th Street, well mission accomplished. My sister got mad at her boyfriend one time and we decided to do something to aggravate her boyfriend. My dad Raymond Stewart always had a lot of used cars and trucks, so we borrowed a pickup and Luther was the driver, my sister and I grabbed bags of trash that was on Leverett Street and put them in the back of the pickup and took them to her boyfriends front yard "man from glad". Luther couldn't believe we would do such a thing. My mom (Margaret) loved riding around with us, well one night the Mopar Luther was driving kept getting stuck in 2nd gear and we got pulled over by Fayetteville's finest, the cop asked Luther who was in the car with him and he replied my friend Donna and her mother. The cop goes her mother? well we didn't get a ticket but sure had some laughs. Luther would take us to the old Sambo's down from the mall and we would go in there and eat, he would always laugh when we were done eating, I would scrap all the food on one plate and stack the dishes up so it would be easier for the person cleaning to table to clean. He said "well you do this because you are helping the dish washer and I said yes I am. Luther worked with me at the time at the Fayetteville Country Club plus he did his second job at the Delux.
Well buddy you are one of a kind and have the biggest heart. I appreciate you being a friend to me.
I would like to think of you when I hear "Dancing In The Sky" by Dani and Lizzy.
Thanks Buddy
