Lyle Eugene Bergquist's Obituary
Lyle Eugene Bergquist, 89, of Fayetteville, passed away Sunday May 23, 2010 at Butterfield Trail Village. Born February 21, 1921, in Arapahoe, Nebraska, he was the son of Wesley Charles and Alice Brown Murray Bergquist.
He earned a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Southern California, and spent his career as a scientist in the aerospace industry. Lyle was awarded the Martin-Marietta “Inventor of the Year” award in Washington, D.C. in 1986.
Lyle was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Mansfield Bergquist in 2007 and his daughter, Janet Bergquist Dixon, in 2009. He was a member of Fayetteville Friends Meeting (Quakers) and Fayetteville Unitarian-Universalist Fellowship.
He is survived by his son Daryl J. Bergquist, Blountsville, AL, daughter-in-law, Sara E. Rose, Blountsville, AL, son-in-law, John C. Dixon, Fayetteville, AR, and grandchildren, Colin W. Dixon, Sydney, Australia, and Bronwyn C. Dixon of Fayetteville, AR.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May 29, 2 p.m., at Butterfield Trail Village, Convocation Room, 1923 E. Joyce Blvd. Fayetteville, AR. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Butterfield Trail Village Foundation Employee Scholarship Fund, 1923 E. Joyce Blvd, Apt. 163, Fayetteville, AR 72703.
