Mamie Lou Spooner's Obituary
Mamie Lou Spooner, age 97, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died on January 8, 2023, at Magnolia Place in Rogers, Arkansas. She peacefully slipped away into the loving arms of her God as Magnolia Place staff quietly read highlighted scripture from her Bible.
Mamie was born on August 30, 1925, in Wilmer, Alabama, to Joe Marvin Pierce and Zebba Belton Pierce. Mamie married Arthur Elmon Spooner on September 19, 1942, in George County Mississippi. She was an active member of First Baptist Church in Fayetteville and an active member of Bible Study Fellowship for over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur E. Spooner; son, Arthur “Art” Spooner, Jr.; brothers, Hannah Pierce, Harry Pierce and Pat Pierce; and sister, Myrtle Russell.
Mamie is survived by daughter, Mary Alice Loberg and husband Doug of Dallas, Texas; daughter-in-law, Sue Gunn Spooner of Williamsburg, Virginia; grandchildren Carol Balog, Robert Loberg, Brad Spooner, Bill Spooner and Clare Spooner; great grandchildren, Emma Kate Balog, Hannah Balog, Ashlyn Loberg, Aidan Loberg, Charlie Spooner, Elenore Spooner, Greg Spooner, Sam Spooner; sisters, Juneace Brannon, Gladys Barksdale and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Graveside services will be held at 10:30 AM on Tuesday, January 17, 2023 at Fayetteville National Cemetery, in Fayetteville, Arkansas, with Circle of Life Hospice Chaplin Jim Moore officiating.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville.
