Marcus Clark Langston's Obituary
Marcus Clark Langston, 49, of Fayetteville, Arkansas died Tuesday at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, while undergoing a liver transplant.
Marc was smart, funny, loud, and extremely generous in giving of his heart. He liked nothing better than being surrounded by family, the telling of a great story and lots of laughter. His home was always a joyful gathering place. His intellect and warmth of nature brought lots of adventure and magic into the lives of those close to him.
Marc was born December 9, 1953, in Little Rock, Arkansas to Dr. Harold D. (Chief) and Carlyn Clark Langston, and spent his childhood years there. He was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Army. He graduated from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville where he received a Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering.
Marc was Director of the Arkansas Center for Technology Transfer; Division of the University of Arkansas, College of Engineering. He was a Registered Professional Engineer and a Research Professor for the University of Arkansas Engineering Research Department. He was a member of the Tau Beta Pi Fraternity and also a member of the Protective Order of the Elks Lodge Number 1987 of Fayetteville.
Marc was devoted to his wife and children and his new grandchild. He faced his illness optimistically with bravery and humor. He was quite a character, always a gentleman, and a true teacher of life and will be terribly missed by all who loved him.
Marc was preceded in death by his father Dr. Harold D. (Chief) Langston.
Marc is survived by his wife, Annie Rosell Langston; his three daughters and his son, Abigail Langston Myer and her husband Jason R. Myer of Saint Austell, England, Allison Claire Langston of Fayetteville, Ellie Test of Fayetteville, and Marcus Clark Langston, Jr. of Fayetteville; his mother, Carlyn Langston Wilbourn and her husband Sanford Wilbourn of Little Rock; his three sisters and his brother, Ann Langston Cooper of O'Fallen, Ill., Sandy Langston Watson of Little Rock, Laurie Langston Brookes of Fayetteville, Georgia, and Harold D. (Hodie) Langston, Jr. of Springdale; and his grandson, Ethan Langston Myer of Saint Austell, England.
A visitation will be held on Friday from noon until 9:00 PM with a Rosary and Prayer Service being held at 6:00 PM Friday evening in Nelson-Berna Funeral Home Chapel. The family will be present until 8:00 p.m. to greet friends. A Celebration of the Funeral Mass will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas University Parrish Church at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Burial will follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Marcus Clark Langston Memorial Fund at any Bank of America location or Bank of America, Fayetteville, Arkansas.
