Margaret Anderson's Obituary
Margaret “Peggy” Wood (Rye) Anderson, age 89, currently of Fayetteville, died December 28, at her home. She was born November 16, 1933 in Duluth, Minnesota, daughter of Russell R. Wood and Mildred E. Wood. Her childhood home was in Russellville and she was a graduate of the University of Arkansas in 1954. She was a life-long member of the First Methodist Church. She was a school counselor for 30 years serving the DeWitt and Glenn Rose districts and was an active member of the Benton community for over 30 years.
She was a Master Gardener, PEO officer, Bible study leader, volunteer for HOSPICE, CJOHN, and many other community organizations. Most importantly, as a devoted grandmother, she rarely missed any of her 12 grandchildren’s sporting or school events.
Survivors include her daughters, Margaret Boyd (Brad), Susan Jessup (Jerry), Sherrill Johnson, Jenni Vaughan (Audwin), son John G. Rye III (Debi), brother, Craig S. Wood (Nancy), sister Sue Ann Blake (Richard); 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be 9:30 am – 10:00 am Thursday December 29, 2022 at Moore’s Chapel. Memorial service will be 10:00 am following the visitation at Moore’s Chapel with Rev. Greg Gibson conducting the service.
