Margaret Keahey Harrelson's Obituary
Margaret Keahey Harrelson, age 75, of Natural Dam, Arkansas, passed away after a short illness, on January 16, 2025, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was born on January 14, 1950, in Dumas, Arkansas, to Travis C Keahey, Sr. and Noveline Westbrook Keahey. Margaret graduated from Dumas High School and then Arkansas A&M College in Monticello, Arkansas with a BSE in Elementary Education. She later earned a Master’s of Education degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville, Arkansas. She also earned a Master’s Degree as a Library Media Information Specialist from UCA in Conway, Arkansas. She taught elementary school for 28 years, the last 21 years in Rogers Arkansas Public Schools. She retired from teaching in order to care for her father until his death. Margaret then made use of her library degree by becoming the head librarian at Elkins Public Library. She retired from there to move to Natural Dam where she spent her time outdoors, quilting and reading.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Nolan Harrelson; son, Thaddeus Paul Smith; stepdaughter, Helen Myrick; brother, George Keahey; and her parents, Travis and Noveline Keahey.
Margaret is survived by her much-loved companion, Lon Schultz; stepson, Charles Harrelson and wife Leslie; granddaughters, Bryn Lowery Harrelson, Zoë Harrelson, Morgan Harrelson, and Carol Ann Myrick; brothers Ben Keahey and Travis Keahey; sister, Martha Pierce; niece, Tiffany Pittman; nephews, Craig Canard, Dean Keahey, and Michael Keahey; and sister-in-laws, Marlene Chatman and Jan Keahey.
