Margaret "Peggy" Gurler's Obituary
Margaret "Peggy" Gurler passed away on her 94th birthday, June 17, 2026, surrounded by family, who will miss her dearly.
Born in 1932 to Stanley and Barbara Putnam in South Bend, Indiana, Peggy attended high school in Schenectady, New York, where she met Charles "Chuck" Gurler. Both went on to earn bachelor's degrees in American history at Hobart and William Smith College and then wed in 1955.
Chuck and Peggy had four children: Marjorie (David) Addington, Barbara Gurler, Daniel Gurler, and Susan (Farzam) Maleki; eight grandchildren: Julia (Dylan) Raines, Kristin Cantrill, Amy (Jason) Werdenberg, Heidi (Patrick) Ng, Emily (Joel) Kraft, Ava Maleki, Sam Maleki, and Arena Maleki; and nine great-grandchildren.
She greatly valued her friends, who adored her gentle, sweet, and kind nature. A lover of animals and books, she volunteered for years at the Animal Humane Society in Golden Valley, Minnesota and at her local libraries.
She is preceded in death by her husband and her siblings, Polly Matthews and Stanley Putnam.
Arrangements are by Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville.
