Al, I'm very sorry to hear about the lose of your wife.
Sincerely Mike Dake
Grandma Marguerite was a wonderful and loving person who will be profoundly missed. My brother, Michael, and I spent a few memorable summers with Grandpa Al and Grandma Marguerite at their house on Crystal Hill and on the lake in Missouri when we were kids. Our family is complicated (whose isn't!), but she always made us feel welcome and loved. I so enjoyed visiting the cozy homes full of antiques she created, playing pinochle, reading old comic books, and trying not to choke on the endless starlight mints she let us have. When I was a struggling adolescent in high school, she and Grandpa Al opened their arms and hearts to me, showing me love and helping me heal. I can still picture her riding around on a bushwhacker, mowing the many acres of beautiful Ozark land on which they lived.
In loving memory,
Dick (R.J.) Wisenbaker
I got to meet Marguerite on a family trip with the Wisenbakers to Arkansas, for the wedding of a family friend. I had heard so many lovely things about Marguerite over the years from her children and grandchildren, who are themselves a testament to her kind and nurturing nature. During the visit, Marguerite, Al, and Stephie welcomed us into their beautiful home and prepared one of their famous crepe brunches! It was such a delight to finally meet in person and get to spend the day together. And I will always remember how Marguerite, knowing her grandson R.J. and I are quite the thrifters, wanted to make sure we left with one of her many treasures. That pre-war, hanging grocer's scale (with a maker mark from Philadelphia to boot) has hung on the door to our pantry ever since. It is a reminder of her caring, loving soul.
With love, Nathanael Roesch
