Forever known to me as Mrs. McArthur, she was the kindest, gentlest soul. Her smile and warm welcome told me I was safe and loved in their home. Childhood friends with her daughter Janine, we lived around the corner. Our moms would telephone each other before I began what to me was a great journey. I walked knowing I remained in her care until my mom would shepherd me the rest of the way safely home. My fondest memory was her delighted laughter as Janine and I tried valiantly at age 6 to stay awake until midnight on New Year’s Eve, upside down on their family sofa. Heaven has gained a precious saint.
