In Memoriam: Marion Kindley Wasson (May 9, 1930 - August 29, 2023)
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Marion Kindley Wasson, a beloved father, brother, and friend to many. Marion peacefully left this world on August 23, 2023, surrounded by the love of his family. He was preceded in death by his cherished wife of seventy-one years, Bobbie Jean, his parents Marion Wasson and Genevieve Kindley Wasson, and his brother Field Wasson.
Born on May 9, 1930, Marion's journey through life was filled with dedication, passion, and unwavering love for his family and community. After proudly serving in the U.S. Air Force, Marion pursued his dream of aviation and attended the Spartan School of Aeronautics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He then settled in Siloam Springs, where he embarked on a successful banking career with the First National Bank of Siloam Springs.
Marion's commitment to service extended beyond his professional life, as he was an active member of the Methodist Church, a devoted supporter of the Boy Scouts of America and an original member of the Ozark Society, which helped save the Buffalo River. His love for flying led him to become a private commercial airline pilot, a pursuit that brought him immense joy and fulfillment.
Upon his retirement, Marion decided to bask in the warmth of Sanibel Island, Florida, relishing the tranquil beauty of the coast. Later in life, he returned to Fayetteville, where he found a loving community at Butterfield Trail Village.
Marion will be forever remembered by his son, David Wasson, and daughter, Debbie Wasson, who carry on his legacy of love and kindness. He leaves behind his sister, Rebecca Wasson, as well as numerous nieces and nephews who were deeply cherished by him.
A memorial service to honor Marion's life will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 16, at the Butterfield Trail Village Performance Hall. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests memorial contributions be made to Central United Methodist Church or the Butterfield Trail Village Foundation.
Marion Kindley Wasson touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, reminding us of the joy he brought to our lives and the impact he made on the world around him. May he rest in eternal peace.
Cremation arrangements are under the care of the Nelson Berna Funeral Home of Fayetteville.
