Mark Wayne Dorey's Obituary
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Mr. Mark Wayne Dorey Sr., 63, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, on May 4, 2012. He was formerly a 19 year resident of Linden, Pennsylvania.
Born in Pensacola, FL on August 15, 1948, he was the son of Mary S. Akins and the late Wayne H. Dorey.
Mr. Dorey was a Vietnam era veteran serving in the United States Air Force from September 1967 through July 1971. He was honorably discharged as a SGT of the 460th Field Maintenance Squadron. He remained in Vietnam as a Civilian Contractor until 1975.
After leaving Vietnam, he joined his father in Jersey Shore, PA. He then pursued and obtained an Associate’s degree in Business Management from Williamsport Area Community College. He worked as a Maintenance Technician at Covenant Central Presbyterian Church in Williamsport for many years. After moving to Fayetteville, AR in 1998, he retired from Staley Inc. in 2007 as a Data Technician.
He was a gun and car enthusiast and enjoyed working on them with his sons, as well as building model trains. His hobbies included fishing, football, and rock/blues music. He was heavily involved in New Heights Church as a Men’s Group Leader and also led and participated in the Community Groups.
Surviving are his wife, Cynthia Lou Dorey, of Fayetteville, AR, three children, Mark W. Dorey Jr., April R. Dorey of Fayetteville, AR, and Sean P. Dorey of Camden, AR. Also surviving are his sisters Lisa A. McCardell of Boiling Springs, PA, Gwen M. Berends of Farmington, AR, brothers Alan M. Dorey and Gary H. Golden of Fayetteville, AR and Eric F. Dorey of Charlotte, NC, and two grandchildren, Mark E. Dorey and Abigail P. Dorey.
A full military honor memorial service will be held on 2:00PM, May 10, 2012 at the Fayetteville National Cemetery under the direction of Moore’s Funeral Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to New Heights Church in memory of Mark W. Dorey Sr.
