Mary Lou Anderson's Obituary
Mary Lou Anderson, 93, passed peacefully on October 19, 2024 in Rogers. She had such an enriched life and gave so much to others.
She was born on February 28, 1931 and was raised in Northern Wisconsin on the coast of Lake Superior in Ashland. After graduation from high school, she continued her education at Northland College and Milwaukee Downer College, (now Lawrence University).
She married the love of her life Charles Lee Anderson on October 19th, 1951, 73 years of marriage during which they raised two children, Scott and Carrie. She was also a proud grandmother to Clint (Nicole) and Travis Albright and great-grandmother to Raven Albright.
Mary Lou and Charles started their adventure in Washington, DC as Charles was in the Navy and then moved back to Madison, Wisconsin to complete his education at the University of Wisconsin. Since then, they lived in many places: Minneapolis, Kansas City, Bellville, IL, Sioux City, IA, Memphis, TN, Bella Vista, AR, Panama City Beach, FL and finally, Rogers, AR.
While in Washington, DC, Mary Lou worked at the Library of Congress as a Card Researcher. In Madison, WI, she was employed as a Dental Assistant and spent much time at the University’s Art Department making jewelry and Christmas cards. Her interest in the Arts and Crafts was evident throughout her lifetime. Her skill at needlepoint earned awards at the Minnesota State Fair. She was also actively involved with the Children’s Health Center where members contributed their artwork for the annual children’s charity event.
In Arkansas, Mary Lou attended classes in Oak basket weaving and created baskets for her family and friends. She was a talented knitter and was known for her exquisite “Afghan blankets”. She gave one to most everyone she knew. She also volunteered at St. Mary Hospital in the crafts department and sold her creations at the gift shop.
Mary Lou was an unbelievably giving person. She touched so many people with her outgoing kindness, strength and super way of being just so nice! She added so much to people’s lives and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
