For the ten years Mary Ellen battled with cancer, she always kept a positive attitude and had a smile on her face for family and friends. She was a person of great faith and lived a life that truly expressed her love for the Lord. She no longer suffers with pain and the effects of her physical condition, but is rejoicing with her Lord in heaven. Mary Ellen went to school at Shady Grove and Springdale High School. She enjoyed spending time with family and friends, going to church, working in Bible School, gospel music, traveling, camping, handwork and she loved children. She was a very loving and caring person to everyone around her. Second only to her devotion to her Lord was her love for her husband, Thomas Burton McGee. She enjoyed raising her family and sharing life with Burton for the past sixty-one years. She was an active member of Calvary Baptist Church in Fayetteville since 1966, Gideon Auxiliary for over 25 years and attended Bible Study Fellowship in Northwest Arkansas for many years. She was a wonderful cook and a great companion to Burton. Mary and Burton were a team in life. They always worked together, even in the daily operation of their construction business.
She is preceded in death by her parents and four sisters, Ethel Graham, Leta Smith, Thelma Jennings, Rachel Williams, and two brothers Houston Plumlee and Homer Plumlee.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Burton McGee of Farmington, Arkansas and three children; Kathy Wallace and her husband Michael Wallace, Brenda Laney and her husband Randy Laney, and Greg McGee and his wife Karen Caselman McGee all of Farmington, Arkansas and fourteen grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren.
