Mary Kathryn Coreil's Obituary
Mary Kathryn Coreil, 40, a resident of Savannah, Georgia and native of Fayetteville, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 5, 2022. Mary Kathryn was born on September 7, 1981 in Little Rock, Arkansas, the daughter of Dennis and Rebecca Hall Floyd.
She was a lifelong sports enthusiast — from her time on championship tee ball teams through her basketball days as number 14, when she was known for her pure shooting form and ability to sink three-pointers. After high school, Mary Kathryn wanted to follow her family’s Razorback legacy, and she completed her bachelor’s degree at the University of Arkansas. She spent her career in aviation and was known for her expertise in managing commercial service airports across Arkansas, California, and Texas.
Through her airport management work, she met the love of her life and husband, Chief Warrant Officer 3 John Coreil. She said she would never date a pilot, but once he contacted her to refuel eight Blackhawk helicopters at her airport, she was hooked, and they were inseparable. On August 1, 2017, she began her most cherished role as an Army wife. She was completely devoted to John and treasured their life of travel and adventure with their special canine companions, Roux Lafitte and Bayou Teche. Their love is an inspiration to all who know them.
Family was central to Mary Kathryn’s life, and she adored her nieces and nephew, Terry, Madelyn and Everlynn Ciganek, and Rylynn Perkins. It gave her much joy to visit them during her journeys to Arkansas, and she loved to entertain them with trips to Sea World and wild animal parks when they traveled to see her in Texas. Being their aunt enriched her life. As a true giver, she enjoyed being the bearer of treats often denied by their parents. She is also lovingly remembered by her husband John and the entire Coreil family; her parents, Dennis, and Rebecca Floyd; her maternal grandmother, Marion Hall; her siblings, Noélle Ciganek and her husband Terry, David Floyd and his wife Terri and her children Cameron and Caylee, and Lauren Perkins and her husband Chris.
Evident to all who adored her, Mary Kathryn had a deep desire to be a witness of God’s sacrificial love and grace as His way to heaven. She joins her maternal grandfather, James Hall (Pop-pop), her paternal grandparents, John and Evelyn Floyd, and her uncle, Greg Hall in His heavenly kingdom. She cherished the memory of her constant companion Mocha Bear. It was through this special relationship that the Floyd family became true dog-lovers and experienced the special value of having a dog as part of the family.
A visitation will be held from 1:00 pm until 4:00 pm on Sunday, February 13 at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville. A celebration of life will take place on the sixth anniversary of her first date with her husband John at 10:00 am on Monday, February 14 at Elmdale Baptist Church with graveside service to follow at Fairview Memorial Gardens Pallbearers for services will be John Coreil, Dennis Floyd, David Floyd, Terry Ciganek III, Terry Ciganek Jr., Christopher Perkins, Vince Coreil and Lance Coreil.
