Mary Lou Walling's Obituary
Mary Lou Freeman Walling, age 74, of Fayetteville, died Tuesday, November 19, 2013.
Mary was born June 25, 1938 in Hot Springs, South Dakota to the late Arthur Freeman and Nora Martin Freeman. She graduated from Longmont High School in Longmont, Colorado where she had lived since age twelve. She earned a Bachelor’s from the University of Northern Colorado in 1959 where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority and Pi Kappa Delta Forensic Honor Society. She married Charles E. Walling in 1958.
Mary taught elementary school in New Jersey and in Pennsylvania. She was the Director of Anne’s Haven Hospice in Denton, Texas. She served as a Medical Office Manager in Bolivar, Missouri and in Harrison, Arkansas. She is a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fayetteville. Mary served as a Lay Reader, on the Altar Guild and sang in the choir at St. Paul’s and elsewhere. Mary was a devoted mother and wife, a bright and articulate friend, remarkably dependable, loyal and cheerful.
Mary is survived by her husband, Chuck and three children: Michael Lawrence Walling of Malvern, Arkansas; Hope Elizabeth Wilkinson of Shreveport, Louisiana and Johanna Joy Foster and her husband Stephen of Mountain Home, Arkansas. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Bailey Gideon Parker, Ryan Edward Wilkinson, Jackson Matthew Foster and Bennett James Foster.
Burial services will be at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 30, 2013 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Fayetteville with a reception following.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Friends of Music, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, 224 N. East Avenue, Fayetteville, Arkansas 7270l.
Cremation arrangements were made by Moore’s Chapel.
