Maryruth Singleton's Obituary
Maryruth Singleton, 87, of Fayetteville died July 18, 2003 at Butterfield Trail Village. She was born March 22, 1916, in Licking, MO, to Dr. Ernest Mitchell and Mary Farrow Mitchell.
She was a graduate of Monett, MO High School and the University of New Mexico with a degree in accounting. She was married to Dr. Henry Marvin Singleton on Nov. 12, 1936. He predeceased her seven years ago. They lived in Cedar Bayou, Baytown, and Dallas, TX before moving to Fayetteville in 1980. She has lived at Butterfield Trail Village for 14 years.
Maryruth was a member of Chi Omega Sorority, Central United Methodist Church, and served as President of the Washington Co. Women's Republican Club. In Baytown she was the President of the AAUW. She was the Treasurer of Industrial Chemical Specialties Company that she and her husband founded. She served on several committees while at Butterfield Trail Village. Book clubs and bridge were her hobbies. For many years she was care-giver for her children, parents, and husband.
She is survived by her sons, Dr. E. Mitchell Singleton of Fayetteville, Dr. Marvin A. Singleton of Joplin, MO, and daughter Mollie Singleton of Baltimore, MD. She has six grandchildren: Scott Singleton of Houston, TX, Marvin Singleton of Dallas, TX, Mitchell and Catherine Singleton of Joplin, MO, Kathi Raumaker of Pocatello, ID, and Karin Prieto of Johnson City, TN,. She has 5 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Butterfield Trail Village on Saturday, July 26, 2003 at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Thomas T. Frase officiating.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested memorials be made to the Butterfield Trail Village Foundation, 1923 E. Joyce Blvd., Fayetteville, AR 72703 or Washington Regional Hospice, 34 Colt Square, Fayetteville, AR 72701.
