Maxine Carney's Obituary
Maxine Carney (Fultz), age 90, of Alma, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2026. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, and aunt to those who knew her.
Born on August 20 in Springdale, Arkansas, she came into this world a mere five minutes after her twin sister, Nadine. Maxine was a homemaker, a devoted grandmother, and a sweet woman who had a kind word for everyone. She loved ferociously, always let you know that you were cared for, and that she was proud of you.
Maxine was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Carney; her daughter, Penny Morgan; her sisters Betty Beth, Nadine LeBow, and Lucile Luker; and her parents, Clarence and Lena Jo (Terry) Fultz. She is survived by her son-in-law Gary Morgan of Alma; stepdaughter LeaDana Dempsey (Shawn) of Huntsville; stepson Dean Carney (Debbie) of Winslow; her beloved nieces, as well as several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A funeral service to honor Maxine’s life will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday July 24, 2026 at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville, Arkansas. Following the service, she will be laid to rest at Mt. Comfort Cemetery in Fayetteville. Family will greet friends and family 9:30 am – 10:00 am Friday just prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alma Methodist Church in Alma, AR, or to Gideons International.
Maxine’s love and kindness will be forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her.
