Dear Elliott Family, I was saddened to read in the paper on Sunday about the passing of Maxine Elliott. She was my 5th Grade teacher at Claiborne and I absolutely loved her. That was in 1956 during the days that we could say the Pledge of Allegiance and have a morning prayer, which Mrs. Elliott always led and asked some of the class members on occasion to say the morning prayer as well. She did have a beautiful voice, which I heard on many occasions and was a cohort with my mother, Peggy Ford, who taught 1st Grade. Both of them were always into having school plays and various choral programs. There was a wonderful staff of teachers at Claiborne during those years in the 50's. Maxine Elliott was special and was always a supporter for me during my high school, college and law school days. She is and was an important person to me in my formative years and has certainly contributed to my success in life by teaching me the 3Rs as well as life lessons and skills. I shall pray for you and your family on the passing of such a dear lady.

This lady was my teacher at Claiborne School back inthe fifties. Years later I met her husband when he went to work at G.C. Murphy Company Warehouse as the traffic manager. We also attended the First Methodist Church where they both sang in the choir. She had such a wonderful voice! While it's hard to let our loved ones go, you know she has been reunited with your Dad and they both are singing in that Heavenly Choir.
My sincere condolences to you all.
Maxine, Charlie, and the Whitaker’s were pillars in the First Methodist Church of West Monroe and our dear friends. I cherish the memory of times spent together in the music ministry particularly in the Chancel Choir. I am sure there is a heavenly choir including many Chancel Choir members including the director, my dear husband, Henry ( Hank) who passed away November 7. My love and prayers to the family.
