Melanie Parker's Obituary
Melanie Parker, 65 of Fayetteville, AR passed away Tuesday, October 16, 2007, in Fayetteville. She was born November 4, 1941, to Brooks Parker and Clarice (Smyth) Parker of Lewisville, AR.
She was a retired employee of the State of Arkansas and considered her years with the Arkansas Industrial Development Commission as some of the best of her life. She attended the University of Arkansas, was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha, was an avid Razorback fan, a lifelong Democrat and a proud mother and grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her first grandchild, Spencer McIlroy Hawkins.
She is survived by two daughters; Melissa McIlroy Hawkins and husband Drake of Little Rock, AR, Melinda McIlroy and companion Mark Taylor of Fayetteville, AR, one brother; Bob Parker and wife Frances of Russellville, AR, two grandchildren; Anne-Elise Hawkins and Walker Hawkins both of Little Rock, AR; her special Wednesday lunch group and Thursday dinner group; and a host of lifelong friends from Lewisville, Arkadelphia, Little Rock and Fayetteville.
The family would like to thank the ICU doctors and nursing staff of Washington Regional Medical Center and the Reverends Lowell Grisham and Suzanne Stoner of St. Paul's Episcopal Church for their care and compassion during her final weeks.
A celebration of her life will be held on her birthday, Sunday, November 4, 2007, at 3:00 PM at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Fayetteville with Reverends Lowell Grisham and Suzanne Stoner officiating.
Memorials may be made by donating blood in her memory to the American Red Cross or making contributions to the charity of your choice.
