Michael Lynn Rhodes Sr.'s Obituary
Michael Lynn Rhodes Sr., of Springdale, passed away on Monday, May 8, 2023, at 70 years old. He was born April 9, 1953, in Blytheville, Arkansas to James Junior and Cathleen (Smith) Rhodes. Known to most as Mike, he was the youngest of three sons.
Mike served 20 years in the United States Air Force, and after retirement from the military, graduated from Louisiana Tech University. He later became certified to teach and spent his teaching career at Fort Smith Christian School, Northside High School in Fort Smith, and Alma High School.
Lovingly referred to as “Pappy” by those who knew him best, Mike enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, and throwing the football around with his two grandsons. He was a master craftsman and could be found working in his shop and creating treasured pieces for his friends and family. Mike was also a talented musician and loved playing guitar and singing with his two sons.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Cathleen, and his older brother, Gerald Rhodes.
Michael is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Patricia Ann (Skipper) Rhodes; his son Michael Lynn Rhodes Jr. and his wife Misty; Christopher Rhodes and his wife Chrissy; daughter, Amanda Teff and her husband Jeremy; brother, Joe Rhodes; grandchildren, Townsend and Graham Teff and Zane Ford; as well as other friends, family, and loved ones.
A service honoring the life of Michael L. Rhodes, Sr. will be held on Wednesday May 10, 2023, at 10:30 am at Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville with visitation an hour prior. Michael will be laid to rest with full military honors following the service at 11:30 am at the Fayetteville National Cemetery.
