Millie Psalm Hurlbut's Obituary
Millie Psalm came into this world on December 26th, 2012. Millie was full of strength, determination, and life. She was my tiny warrior, who had an adventurous free spirit, who faced life’s battles with a bravery that could not compare.
My precious Millie was born with a rare kidney disease, and also profoundly deaf, but became fluent in sign language. Millie was a chatter box. Her tiny hands were always moving...she always had something to say. Millie was decisive, and knew what she wanted, she pushed until she got it. It was one of the greatest things about her. She spoke her mind and let nothing stand in her way.
Millie was an extremely happy child. Her presence lit up any room she entered. Her smile was massive, her laugh was infectious, and her big personality was pure magic. She had a giggle that let you know she was up to something, because she usually was. Millie was a total stinker, and her cuteness, and lighthearted nature allowed her to get away with it. Millie loved making others laugh, especially her big brother, Maddox.
Millie loved to dance. She was always dancing. She could not hear the music, but she felt it. Millie loved baby dolls, books, playing dress up, Kermit, dinosaurs, art, playing hide and seek, bubbles, hiking, swimming, jumping on the trampoline, painting, giving herself marker tattoos, riding her trike, being silly, cuddling, and anything involving her amazing big brother.
Millie loved telling me about the babies she was going to have one day when she grew up to be a mommy, a doctor, and a ballerina.
Millie was sassy, but she was also sweet, very compassionate, empathetic, and caring. It broke her heart to see people cry. Any time Maddox was upset about something, Millie would wrap her arms around him, and cry with him.
Millie was 3.5 when she contracted meningitis. Meningitis took a lot of Millie’s abilities, but never held her back. Therapies, appointments, and medical changes became her constant. Millie pushed herself daily to reach new goals. The tiniest achievements became her biggest victories.
After Millie’s last sickness, her tiny body could no longer fight. She was tired, and this world was no longer equipped for the incredible being that Millie is. On December the 4th, 2020, I held my precious baby girl as she slipped off to Heaven.
Millie’s light was always shining so very brightly. She was an incredible being that brought out the best in everyone. Millie’s light will continue to shine, and she will continue to make the universe a better place. Millie gave so many people inspiration, hope, and joy every single day, especially me.
I know my precious angel is flying around heaven with the most incredible wings, doing things her own special way. All of the other angels are better for knowing her, and are all falling in love with little Millie Psalm. Cremation arrangements are by Nelson Berna Funeral Home.
