Myrle (Purr) Jordan's Obituary
Myrle (Purr) Jordan left her earthly vessel and joined her Savior on April 9th, 2007. On this day after Easter, celebrating Christ's resurrection, she joined her twin sister, Myrtle, who died on Christmas Eve, 2006.
"Purr" was born August 28th, 1921, Muskogee, Oklahoma to Herschel and Nell Browning. She graduated from Muskogee Central High School and the Muskogee Cosmetology School in 1938. During World War II she worked at he Officers Club of Camp Gruber, Oklahoma, as assistant manager serving the Rainbow 88th, and Blackhawk Divisions. After her marriage she her home in Jonesboro where she was a member of First Baptist Church teaching Bible classes to children which remained her interest through retirement.
Myrle moved to Los Angeles where she worked as an audit bookkeeper for Robinson's Department Store until her retirement. She was the primary caregiver for her sister and elderly parents. She moved to Fayetteville in 1986 with her sisters and was a member of the First Baptist Church, Springdale. She was active in the prayer ministry and Senior Adult Ministry of her church as well as the 24 Hour Prayer Ministry of First Baptist, Fayetteville, for several years. The three sisters enjoyed many years of arts and crafts with Myrle being especially gifted at crochet. They often said their best memory was traveling to London, England to "visit the Queen" with their nephew and his wife!
Myrle is survived by her sister, Ruth Lee Hunt of Fayetteville; nephew Dr. Jim Hunt (Margaret); great nephews Rob Hunt (Janelle: Andrew Hunt (Pam); great nieces Lisa Lovell (Mark); Leslie Sample (Daniel); and eleven great-great nieces and nephews, as well as a number of cousins and friends.
The family extends their profound appreciation to Dr. Roger Montgomery and his staff for their many years of compassionate care of the "sisters"; to the staff of North Hills Lifecare and Rehabilitation who made her life rich and full over the last two years; to Pastors Charlie Foster, Joe Dorman and Ken Stone of her church; and to Clayton Bronson, Keith Robbins, and Herb Honeycutt, of FBC Fayetteville, who ministered to Myrle for several years. Sincere thanks goes to Circle of Life Hospice and Dr. Leslie Landrum for their invaluable support.
A memorial service celebrating Myrle's life will be Friday, April 13, 2007 at 2:00 PM at North Hills Life Care and Rehab, 27 Appleby, Fayetteville, with Pastors Charlie Foster and Rob Hunt officiating. A private interment will be held.
The family has requested that any memorials be directed to First Baptist Church, Springdale, for the Senior Adult Ministry, as requested by Myrle. Purr?s note to the family read: "Your loved one's gone away for now, and entered through the door that leads to peace, rest and love for now and ever more. May your consolation be in memories of the past and in the thought that I have journeyed home at last" Amen
