I have looked for Ms. Gordon for years. I was in one of her first classes, if not the first, at Cloverdale Elementary School, in Little Rock. She made such a profound impact on my life, and I absolutely loved her. She even taught us the U of AR fight song. She was so kind, sweet and certainly had a gift to encourage learning. I regret that I spent very few hours in the company of Nancy Allen. Because I live in North Carolina, I saw her only three or four times. She made the best first impression of anyone I ever met, and my admiration for her only grew during subsequent meetings. She had a buoyant presence and a gracious, compassionate spirit focused on others. I forgot my troubles when I was around Nancy. Her voice was inimitable. It contained a light gravel appropriate to carry her satirical wit. It poked fun, nudged me in the ribs. She lifted everyone. Her loss has struck me hard. She doesn't need my prayers, but she has gotten them anyway. God bless her soul. My heart goes out to Nate, old friend and former colleague. Abrazos to my pal!

My husband, Kyle, and Nancy served on the City Council together, and Nate and I worked together at the newspaper for years. We treasure you both and were so sad to hear of Nancy's passing, much too soon. For several years, we would see each other because we both had Valentine's Day dinner at Mockingbird Kitchen every year. I'm so glad that one of those years, we decided to take a photo! Hugs and love to Nate and all of Nancy's family and friends. She was one of a kind, and we will miss her. -- Jennifer Cook

Ms. Nancy taught me the Eagle Rock with style and grace and the Razorback fight song! Took me to my first Razorback Bball game. My favorite person starting in 1982 Jefferson Elementary. She was the best who ever did it!

Dear Nate and family, Elizabeth and I were deeply saddened to learn of Nancy's passing. She was a tremendous asset to Fayetteville in so many ways. Her radiant smile always brightened our day; she had a way of doing so in the most genuine manner. We agreed with her politics and her energetic approach to solving community issues, but Nancy's charming presence often softened the hearts of those in opposing camps.
Your family's loss is Fayetteville's loss; we'll struggle for a long time trying to press on without Nancy. She was one in a million and we're all so grateful to your family for sharing Nancy.
