Nancy Jane Phillips' Obituary
Our dear mom, Nancy Jane Phillips, of Fayetteville, Arkansas passed on Sunday November 19, 2023, at 78 years old.
She was born in Little Rock, Arkansas to Dr. Robert and Jayne Calaway. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother Paul Calaway.
She is survived by her children, Todd Phillips, Kristy Clason, Eric Phillips (Kaley). Nancy’s legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren Tyree Phillips, Corey Phillips, Tucker Phillips, Kaiden Carlton, and Kaleb Carlton. As well as her great -grandchildren Alejandro, Sofia, Alicia, Cairo, and Hayes. She is also survived by her sisters Camille (James) Anderson, Trisha (Tommy) Walden, brother Robert (Vicki) Calaway Jr and many cherished nieces and nephews, family members, friends and loved ones.
Nancy’s early years were filled with a passion for horses, she learned to barrel race and earned rodeo queen titles.
While attending college, she discovered Latin, and that zeal led her to a 30 year career that she adored with the University of Arkansas Law Library. She was a fervent reader her entire life, another passion she was able to channel into her career.
As a devoted Razorbacks fan, she held season tickets for football, basketball, baseball, always wearing red and cheering for the Hogs! Even in her last days in the ICU, always making sure if the Razorbacks were playing a game was on bringing her that familiarity and comfort.
She expressed her creativity through knitting throws and Afghans. She later fell in love with quilting.
Most important to her was the joy radiated through her grandchildren and great grandchildren, who brought her immense love and happiness.
Morning drives to school, held the ritual of reciting the Lord’s Prayer.
Often rushed with a variety of abbreviated versions with pop-tarts in hand-not allowed to leave the car without reciting it.
Our Father, who art in Heaven; hallowed be Thy name; Thy Kingdom come; Thy will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil. For Thine is the Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory forever. Amen
On Nancy’s behalf, her family would like to thank all her friends, family and University of Arkansas Law Library community for their love and support.
Additionally, we would like to thank Dr. Pascal her specialist for helping us with her care.
