Noreen Mary Shaw's Obituary
Noreen Mary Shaw, 92, passed away on January 7, 2026, in Rogers. She was born in Paget, Bermuda on December 13, 1933, to the late Abel and Mary (Pires) Pedro.
She was a long-time member of the Bentonville Seventh-Day Adventist Church but had been unable to attend for some time due to health. She worked on the Army base in Bermuda where she first met her future husband. When she moved to the States, Whitey pursued her. They were married a short time later and lived in East Point, Georgia until they moved to Garfield about 25 years ago. Unfortunately, Aunt Noreen, who loved children, was never able to have any of her own. This made her nieces and nephews very special to her.
Noreen and Whitey did a lot of traveling in their early marriage to visit family and to take family to special sites. In later years, she and Whitey loved to drive around all the back roads of northwest Arkansas on Sunday afternoons.
In recent years, Noreen frequently quoted to her family members the scripture, "But as it is written: 'Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'” I Corinthians 2:9.
Noreen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Merrill “Whitey” Shaw; brothers, Wilton Pedro and Noel “Sonny” Pedro; sisters, Lydina Fredrick and Evelyn Ogle.
She is survived by her step-children, Donald Shaw, Sherryl Bustillos, and Charlene Shaw; nephews and nieces, Dennis Ogle (Peggy), David Ogle (Deborah), Donna Frost (Rex), Carroll-Ann Piscatelli, and Joan “Tootsie” Crowther (Billy); and many great-nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 at 11:30 am in Rogers SDA Church, with burial to follow at Fayetteville National Cemetery.
