Oni Jayden Stormer McCoy's Obituary
Today, we gather with grief but also with immense gratitude to honor and acknowledge a beautiful and valiant soul — our beautiful and beloved girl, Oni McCoy.
Words cannot do justice to the quality of the person Oni was, and continues to be, in our hearts. She was incredibly strong, determined, and unshakeable, all while loving and caring with the same determination and strength.
She wasn’t afraid to dream big and had many goals and aspirations. However, she was also grateful for what she had, and any progress, no matter how small, made her happy. She understood the value of the intangible — the things many of us dismiss, the things we overlook. She never depreciated love, time, actions, or words. She made sure to express her love, dedicate time, and care for those she held dear. She made sure not a single moment was wasted, making every second special and meaningful — whether it was a cozy indoor moment on a cold winter day, a lively adventure through a forest, or a quiet but reassuring drive somewhere new or familiar.
Next to her, every day was a new adventure, and she lived it to the fullest. She disliked staying still for too long, yet also found comfort in small, repetitive things. She knew when to be serious and when to be relaxed. Everything about her was a perfect mix — a blend of the very best qualities. Perhaps because she was intelligent in every way: academically, socially, and most importantly, emotionally. She could do anything she set her mind to.
Even more remarkably, she understood people’s suffering and happiness and was sensitive to it all. Nonetheless, she didn’t let it overwhelm her. Almost as if she had lived a life before, she knew what mattered most and focused on it. She faced even the most difficult challenges with strength and grace. Throughout her life and in the end, those she loved dearly have no doubt of how deeply she loved them.
Oni lit up rooms and timid souls with her energy and determination. The moment she walked into your life, you felt it — just as her departure has left a hole in the middle of our hearts. She changed all our lives and made us aware of something we had longed for without even knowing it. She taught us wonderful lessons through her actions. Some were so big and clear they left us stunned; others were small yet so significant that they changed the course of our lives. She taught these lessons without even realizing it, and often without us realizing it at the time.
Despite our innate fear of the unknown, she faced the world head-on.
With great bravery, she challenged her fears.
With great grace, she traversed life.
With great determination, she never gave up.
With great authenticity, she made her mark on the world.
She was deeply adored. Truly cherished. And she will be profoundly missed.
She was also incredibly fortunate to experience a once-in-a-lifetime love — a relationship where she was deeply cherished, protected, and adored. Ariel Rivera loved her unconditionally, caring for her with devotion, tenderness, and unwavering loyalty. She knew what it meant to be fully loved, and that love will forever be part of her story. Ariel was shown true love through Oni — something he never knew he needed. He will forever miss her, his one true love. His heart will forever go where Oni goes.
She leaves behind her grandparents; her parents; her aunts and uncles; and her three sisters: Kay Ramsey, Cheyenne Terrace, and Nadia Ramsey, who will forever carry her with them. They will love her always, miss her deeply, and hold her in their hearts for the rest of their lives. The bond they share is unbreakable, transcending time, distance, and even this goodbye.
But her story does not end here.
She lives on in every life she touched, in every heart she softened, in every smile she inspired, and in every lesson she taught us — whether we recognized it at the time or not. Her light continues through us: through the love we give, the kindness we choose, and the courage we carry forward in her name.
Oni McCoy, thank you for the love you gave so freely. Thank you for the joy, the lessons, the laughter, and the light. Thank you for the memories you made with us. Thank you for being exactly who you were — unapologetically and wonderfully you.
You have left your imprint on every soul you encountered, and that is a legacy time can never erase. We will forever remember your strength, love, and charm.
Rest peacefully, beautiful girl.
You are loved beyond measure — always
