Oscar Everett Wyatt's Obituary
Oscar Everett Wyatt, 81, passed away Tuesday, December 5, 2006 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He was born June 3, 1925 in Lewisville, Texas, the son of Oscar Russell and Lydia Sargent Wyatt. A christian man, Oscar was preceded in death by his parents as well as his five brothers, Les, Jack, Steve, Herchel, and Earl. He is survived by Bobbie Laverne Wyatt, his wife of 59 years, and their four children, Debbie Smith of Fort Worth, Texas, Joy Wilder of Batesville, Arkansas, Gary Wyatt of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Terri Randall of Irving, Texas. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and his sister Pearl Jernigan of Krum, Texas.
A veteran of World War II, Oscar served with 101st General Hospital, the 303rd Medical Battalion and the 308th Field Artillery Battalion in England, France, and Germany. After a honorable discharge at the end of the war, Oscar returned to Dallas area where he worked and trained at Baylor Hospital and embarked on a medical career that lasted 50 years. He spent the last 25 years of his medical career with the Ozark Orthopedic and Sports Medicine Clinic in Fayetteville, Arkansas and is generally recognized as the first physician assistant in Northwest Arkansas.
In addition to his love of medicine was Oscar's love of children and sports. He donated his leisure time to his children and as a sports trainer for the Robinson Rockets in Robinson, Texas and later for Fayetteville Bulldogs in Fayetteville, Arkansas. He strived to protect athletes against sports injuries and spent countless hours attending practices and ballgames throughout Texas and Arkansas. He also coached Little League Baseball in Texas where he took a team to the championship in the mid-sixties. After retirement, his hobbies included woodworking and playing with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Oscar will be at Nelson-Berna Funeral Home in Fayetteville from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2006 with services at the same location at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 8, 2006. Pallbearers will be Oscar?s grandchildren Kevin Smith, Joshua Wilder, Lee Wyatt, Adam Randall, Joseph Wilder, and Michael Penny.
