Oval Baker's Obituary
Oval Alvis Baker, 85, of Elkins, Arkansas died Thursday, February 12, 2004. He was born August 17, 1918 in Hazel Valley, Arkansas the son of David Alvis and Arvanah Armond Baker. He was a Machinist for Ayres Furniture, Rancher for Raheen Ranch, a retired Pastor and a Past member of the American Legion. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp at Oark, Ozone and Damascus, Arkansas in the 1930?s, he was ordained into the Ministry on July 6, 1954, was a member of the Drakes Creek Regular Baptist Church and for the last seven years he has attended the Hazel Valley Community Church.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Carl and Verda Baker of Elkins, Arkansas, Charles and Jackie Baker of Elkins, Arkansas, one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn S. and Eugene Shepherd of Winslow, Arkansas, two brothers, Ted Baker of Eureka Springs, Kansas, Waymon Baker of West Fork, Arkansas, eleven grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Cleta A. Baker who passed away on September 17, 2001.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Monday, February 16, 2004 at the Buckner Baptist Church with Rev. Eddie Samuels and Jasper Hankins officiating. Burial will follow in Buckner Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Rick Shepherd, Destry Burnett, Randy Shepherd, Shane Shepherd, Robert Bayliss, Roy Laird, Steve Shepherd, John Baker and Joseph Baker.
He is thru working on the building.
