Patrick Joseph Tobin's Obituary
It is with great sadness that we share the passing of Patrick Joseph Tobin of Fayetteville, Arkansas, on Sunday, March 23. Pat was born September 3, 1941, in Baytown, Texas, to the late John Lawrence and Marion Gouner Tobin. He was preceded in death by his two brothers, James Michael and Lawrence Vincent Tobin, and stepson David Gibbs Westbrook Jr.
Pat is survived by his wife of 45 years, Darlene Moore Tobin; sisters Camille Francis and Lisa Ann (Steve) Hobbs; daughters Susan Diane Tobin and Stacy Tobin (James) Keenan and their children James Patrick, John Mitchell, and Kristina Josephine Keenan; and stepson John (Holly) Westbrook and their daughter Vivian.
Pat called Highlands, Texas, home for 28 years and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in 1960. Following high school, he received an Associate’s Degree from Lee College, then attended Southwest Texas State College, where he earned a degree in Business Administration. He began his professional career as a business education teacher at Galena Park Independent School District and Kirwin High School in Galveston, Texas. Pat then accepted a position as Assistant Director of Finance for the City of Baytown, Texas. In 1969, he took a similar position at the City of Fayetteville (Arkansas), where he lived until his death.
Pat enjoyed working in residential and commercial real estate, consistently proving he had an uncanny eye for finding property with unseen potential. His active mind never allowed him an opportunity to retire, and he continued building new projects until his death. Always a teacher and coach at heart, Pat was readily available to give an opinion or advice to his family and friends. He found immense satisfaction in mentoring young people, athletes, and start-up businesses.
Friends are welcome to attend a visitation on Friday, March 28, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Pat’s “Barndominium” at 641 Habberton Road in Fayetteville. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 29, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Fayetteville. Burial will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
The family requests that memorial gifts be made to the St. Thomas Aquinas University Parish Building Campaign, PO Box 4840, Fayetteville, AR 72701, in lieu of flowers.
